Hatch performs engineering services for Ontario wind farms
June 21, 2010
Hatch has been selected by International Power Canada (formerly AIM PowerGen) to provide as-needed Owner’s Engineer services as well as engineering and site monitoring during the construction of both the Plateau and Pointe Aux Roches wind projects in Ontario.
Hatch will support International Power’s engineering team, primarily in civil/geotechnical and electrical disciplines.
The 49-MW Pointe Aux Roches wind farm near Leamington and 30-MW Plateau wind farm near Melanchthon are among the first wind projects to obtain a feed-in tariff (FIT) from the Ontario Power Authority (OPA).
Ontario's FIT program is North America's first comprehensive guaranteed pricing structure for renewable electricity production. It offers stable prices under long-term contracts for energy generated from renewable sources.
The wind farms are scheduled to be commissioned in early 2011.
Hatch Niagara Falls will lead the assignment with support from Hatch Calgary.
