Sishen South Mine celebrates safety milestone
March 15, 2010
Hatch’s Sishen South Mine project team celebrated one million work-hours without a lost-time incident on February 11, 2010.
Hatch is providing EPCM services for the plant and stockyard area of Kumba Iron Ore's Sishen South Mine Project, a greenfield iron ore mine in South Africa. The $1.1-billion Sishen South Mine will produce an initial 9 Mtpa of iron ore, direct from the mining operation, via the crushing and sizing plant, to stockpiles and a rail-truck loading station.
“The site construction crew have displayed Hatch's and our project team's commitment to safety from inception and deserve the compliments and accolades for the achievement,” said Floyd Botha, Project Manager of the Sishen South Mine Project.
