Hatch surveys Brazilian iron industry
May 12, 2008
Hatch was recently retained by International Nickel Ventures (INV) to survey all independent pig-iron producers in Brazil’s Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo States in the southeast region. The survey will identify the sites’ production capacities and current and idle production rates. Hatch will also determine the raw materials consumption and characteristics at each site.
The Brazilian pig iron and steel industry is quickly expanding, with steel production capacity expected to grow from 35 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) to 55 mtpa by 2012. Hatch Belo Horizonte undertook the project, which was completed in April 2008.
