Conventional oil production is now in the final stages of depletion in most mature oil fields. There is a need to implement advanced methods of oil recovery to maximize the production and to extend the economic life of the oil fields. Concerns about protecting the environment and the emission of acid gases into the atmosphere create the need for effective acid gas removal. The removal of CO2 and H2S from conventional gas is done through commercially-available solvents, which were developed from advances in solvent technologies. Expertise in these solvents is pertinent for the optimal acid gas removal and the economic success of these projects.
